If you are a department head, technical leader, or manager involved
in project management today, you are very likely responsible for
controlling more than one project concurrently. Managing multiple
projects presents some unique challenges.
This course will give you a model and practical tools and techniques
to manage effectively in a multi-project environment.
Project managers and leaders
face unique challenges in completing projects successfully. They
must satisfy a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders,
while often relying on people and other resources that are not under
their direct control.
This course examines the skills needed to lead projects from three
perspectives; leading the project team, leading beyond the team, and
leadership and the PM process tools.

In today’s environment of
competition and change, executives and managers are under constant
pressure to innovate and improve. New products and services, product
and process improvements are essential. How does an executive choose
from a sometimes large and competing array of possible project
investments in light of the strategic goals of the organization?
Leaders in IT, Engineering and other functions often deal with tens
or hundreds of projects, all of which demand scarce funding and
resources. The burgeoning field of Portfolio Management offers the
concepts and tools to make sound, consistent decisions about which
projects to approve, as well as methods to continually track and
evaluate the ongoing relevance and success of projects over time.
The PMP is the internationally recognized professional certification in the field of Project Management. PMP certification is granted by the Project Management Institute (PMI) upon satisfaction of specified education and experience criteria, and the successful completion of a comprehensive examination. This course helps participants prepare for the PMP examination by reviewing all areas of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) as well as reviewing test taking methods and reviewing sample test questions. Participants should be experienced in project management and review the required education and experience required by PMI. PMI also requires 35 hours of project management training, which can be satisfied in various ways, including completion of other courses in this curriculum. Additional study groups or personal study beyond the formal class instruction is explained and recommended.
